Message from Secretary Ministry of Interior

     The launching of the FIA website is a landmark in the history of law enforcement in Pakistan.  In view of the changing global crime scenario, particularly after 9/11, criminal syndicates are operating across borders with the help of modern electronic equipment and means of communication.

     FIA is the only federal law enforcement apparatus empowered to arrest, investigate and prosecute criminals throughout the country.  Its professional mandate includes counter-terrorism, human smuggling & trafficking,  cyber crime, terrorists related money laundering etc.  FIA has developed various modern databases to support its investigative work.  Most modern equipment to check document fraudulency is also available with FIA.

     The global communication system of the Interpol (I-24/7) is connected with FIA and soon four provincial police forces, Customs and ANF would have connectivity with Interpol headquarters.

     It is my considered opinion that speedy and timely receipt of information is vital to interdict crime.  Besides official channels, public participation in policing has become increasingly important especially in our fight against terrorism. The website would provide an informal channel to public for providing information without personal involvement.

     The website intends to provide information on its activities and areas, which are crucially important for public knowledge.  Public would be encouraged to ask questions and lodge complaints against FIA's working and its staff and also make suggestions to improve its working.

     I wish FIA every success in its efforts to make law enforcement as people's friendly as envisioned by the Police Order 2002.
